President Trump resumed his attack on the National Football League (NFL) on Wednesday after its leadership resolved not to force any player to stand during the rendition of the National anthem.
The president who had hoped that the football league would take his side and clampdown on defiant players, got disappointed with the management’s decision.
Though some club owners including Jerry Jones of Dallas Cowboys warned their players to stand and honour the flag or sit on the bench, the latest NFL decisions stemming from a meeting on Tuesday would empower quarterbacks to make demonstrations at the flag at their own discretion.
“The NFL has decided that it will not force players to stand for the playing of our National Anthem. Total disrespect for our great country!”

Meanwhile, when asked about the president’s criticism of the NFL, Jed York, the chief executive and co-owner of the San Francisco 49ers, said, “We need to be above petty attacks from anybody because racial and socioeconomic inequality has existed in this country for too long. You got to block out the noise and go do your job, and that’s what we need to focus on.”
