Azores Golf Open: Oboh loses in second round

As the youngest player among the 76 golfers that featured in the 2017 Azores Ladies Golf Open in Portugal, Nigeria’s Georgia Oboh made the second round where she failed to make the final cut for the final day of the three-day championship.

However, Oboh will be moving to Switzerland for the next tournament next month and she is expected to commence training this week for the championship.

According to Oboh, the Azores tourney was a great experience and a real learning curve.
Being her first LET Access series event, Oboh missed the cut by 10 shots over the two days but she admitted that the lessons learned are important.

Her words: “Firstly, it would have been great to have been there a few more days ahead of time to play in the event. However, the lack of funding arriving at the right time would be to blame.

In the future perhaps, obtaining a committed corporate sponsor will be the best option.
“Secondly, the training base will need to be appropriate and again this will be contingent upon availability of suitable and sustainable funding.

For her mother, Evelyn, “To prepare Georgia as the hope for Nigeria’s 2020 Olympic appearance and success in the golf event, she will need the full commitment of a dedicated sponsor of set of sponsors in order to achieve her goal for Nigeria.”
