No, I am not a pastor or minister or anything like that. What I am is a growing believer moved to share my discoveries about God, and this thing called life with you.
Ever opened the Bible and it was like God was talking directly to you about a situation you are currently in?
Well, this is what happened to me today. So, there is this person that I have been jealous of, and spending a lot of time being envious of.
This morning, I open my devotional, after I was done, I was directed to Job 5:2 as today's memory verse.
I get there and this is what I see, "For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one." (KJV)
Ouch. As if this is not enough, I go to Joyce Meyer Daily Devotional, guess what I see. Yep, you guessed right, it also discusses envy.
Entitled: "Avoid Comparisons", it said, "A confident person avoids comparisons, Confidence is not possible as long as we compare ourselves with others." It also said, "Our joy should not be found in better than others, but in being the best we can be."
2 Corinthians 10:12 was cited as the biblical reference. It read: "We do not dare to classify or compare ourselves with some who commend themselves. When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they show their ignorance."
Double ouch. Both Job and Corinthians basically called me silly and ignorant.
God is obviously trying to tell me to stop my foolishness and stop wasting so much time on something as silly as envy.
So, here I am saying, "Lord, I have heard You, I am going to stop."
Today, this article is dedicated to anyone who has also had their moments of envy and jealousy.
It's time to stop with the silliness(Job's words, not mine) and do better.
Rather than wasting so much time on this, lets take all that energy and put it into being the best version of ourselves.
Lets spend so much becoming better that there is no time to even look elsewhere.
