The beauty entrepreneur and creative director of House of Tara International; an international beauty and skincare consulting firm out of Nigeria shares people's disposition to property theft remains the reason piracy won't go away.
According to her, "As long as people seek to buy the fake of a product there will always be a demand. If you see people buying fake products and say nothing then you are abetting" while highlighting the need for people to react to fake and substandard products.
She credits the economic situation in Nigeria to why a lot of people have turned this (piracy) into a business while revealing that even people who are on the sidelines and do not directly address the issue encourage it.
"It's become accepted like that's ok. People have shied away from fighting about this. If ten years ago when this happened and she didn't respond, she didn't fight or take anyone to court, someone else will do it.
When people who have been impacted don't react or don't respond, they are giving approval. Things are not going to go until good men say it's not ok.
Economic issues makes people want to cut costs there would be more people creating fakes of something or buy the fake of something as they can't afford the original and because someone is buying (the fake) someone is selling! "The only reason there's a supply is because there's a demand for it".
