How to Train Your Brain to Stop Worrying

According to experts, worrying is one of the main causes of numerous health problems. Worrying is known to have a negative effect on a person’s mental state and also lead to physical diseases. Even though not worrying at all is impossible, too much worry can lead to stress, fatigue, depression, increased heart rate and sweating, paleness,  weakness in the legs, trembling in the legs, back pain, headaches, diarrhea, constipation, etc.

Furthermore, when a person worries excessively, he/she may be more prone to infections since the anxiety and stress affect the immunity and increase the chance of colds and other serious health problems.

However, there is an excellent way to solve this issue. Few behavioral changes will help you fight off worrying and live a more happy life. Here’s what you should do:

Write down your worries

Transforming your worries into words may help you find a solution. This will prepare you to conceptualize the problems you’re facing and find a way to resolve them. According to a study done at the University of Chicago, anxious test takers who wrote down their feelings prior to the test had a better performance than those who didn’t. Researchers claim that noting your worries serves to reveal the worst possible outcome which is causing you to feel anxious.

Mindfulness

Studies indicate that mindfulness meditation has the power to better a person’s mental stability and cognition.

Channeling stress into exercising

Exercising is very beneficial for both the mental and physical health. When you exercise on a regular basis, regaining control over your life is much easier. Doctors even recommended to patients who suffer from depression to work out because this reduces the secretion of cortisol and adrenaline, stress hormones, and boosts the endorphin production.
