Gombe – Gombe voters trooped out early on Saturday to elect chairmen and councillors of local governments.
Among the early voters was Deputy Governor, Mr Chris Iliya, who voted at Kofan Sarki polling unit at Kalmai, in Billiri Local Government.
Speaking after casting his vote at 9.23, Iliya described the exercise as “orderly and encouraging”.
“You can see that the exercise has commenced very early and the people are anxious to vote,” he said.
He commended the people for coming out to vote, and urged them to cooperate with electoral officials toward a successful exercise.
Mr Steven Dutse, the Assistant Electoral Officer in Billiri, told NAN that the electoral officers arrived polling units at 6 a.m.
NAN, however, reports that voting did not commence at Akko and Kaltungo, until around 10.30.
Mr Ali Amsalem, the Divisional Police Officer of Akko, said that the exercise was orderly, and commended the electoral body and the voters for ensuring that.
