Following Sunday’s mass shooting in Las Vegas, some members of Congress have taken turns to express their thoughts and offer prayers for the victims of the deadliest mass shooting incident in U.S. history, Washinton Examiner reports.
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi said, “Horrified and heartbroken by the awful tragedy in #LasVegas last night. Praying for those lost, wounded & waiting for news from loved ones.”

“Such a senseless tragedy in Las Vegas. This horrific act has our nation praying for the victims and their families. May God bless us all”, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy wrote.

McCarthy added, “Our nation woke up this morning to tragedy on an unimaginable scale. These are times when we turn to God trying to understand how such inhuman acts can happen. Our nation prays for those who died and for those still fighting to live”.
In his own words, Sen. Dean Heller said he has spoken with the White House and Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval about the shooting, which he called a “senseless massacre.”
“I want to thank our first responders for their swift actions and efforts that without a doubt saved numerous lives. I’ve been in contact with the White House and Governor Sandoval, and I will continue to monitor the situation as this horrific event unfolds. Lynne and I are praying for all of the victims and their families who are experiencing immense pain and grave, shocking loss that cannot be measured”, Heller stressed.
Also, Heller’s colleague, Sen. Catherine Cortez Masto, praised the police and other emergency workers who rushed to the scene.
“I am working with the City of Las Vegas and Clark County to ensure that local officials have the resources they need to support our community and investigate these tragic events,” Cortez Masto said in a statement Monday.
Rep. Dina Titus, representing Las Vegas said, “My heart aches for the victims, their loved ones, and our community. We are a resilient and benevolent town that will not be intimidated by acts of violence.”
She equally assured that her office and staff are available to help.
The suspect, Stephen Paddock, a 64-year-old white male who has since been killed in his hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay Hotel rained down hundreds of rounds on people at a country music festival Sunday night.
