For many of us, our hair doesn’t grow back after a chop nearly as quickly as we would like it to, and we wish that it could become long and luscious overnight. These days, with advancements in the hair-extension industry, this has become a reality, and we can go from short and chopped to longer in a matter of hours.
And while there are many realistic-looking extensions and qualified stylists who can make you look your best, hair extensions can come with their own set of problems. Here are the pros and cons so that you can make an informed decision on whether or not to fake it till you make it.

PROS
1. Hair extensions by their very definition add length to hair, as well as volume, so you can go from short to long in the space of a few hours. It’s also a way of adding colour without using chemicals.
2. If they are properly applied by hair professionals, extensions won’t cause any damage to your existing hair, and provided they are a good quality, you will be able to use the extensions again and again.
3. If you go to a reputable salon, the extensions can be applied to blend in with your own hair and done in such a way that no-one will be able to tell that the long hair you are sporting is not your own.

CONS
1. Good-quality hair can cost a lot of money, but consider it an investment, because the better it is, the longer it will last and the more realistic it will look. As long as you care for it well, you can get a lot of wear out of it.
2. If you have not worn hair extensions before, it can take some getting used to! Your hair can feel slightly heavier, and you will need to change how you style your hair to accommodate the new hair and conceal where the extensions have been attached.
3. You will need to do some research and go to a hair technician who knows what they are doing. Badly applied hair extensions not only look bad but can also damage your hair. Choose wisely!
