A 27-year-old student, Sophia Suleiman, was on Friday arraigned before a Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing $300 and a cell phone.
The defendant was arraigned on a one count charge of theft.
The prosecutor, Fidelix Ogbobe, told the court that one Yahaya Mohammed of Maitama, reported the matter at the Wuse Police Station on July 16.
He said the complainant and the defendant on July 14, went to Jazz and Blues, Wuse, to relax.
He alleged that the defendant stole $300 and one Infinix cell phone from the complainant in the process.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 287 of the Penal Code and punishable under same.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge, while the judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N30, 000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till August 30 for hearing.
