The Ondo State government has postponed indefinitely the coronation ceremony of the new Alale of Akungba-Akoko in Akoko Southwest local government area of the state.
The ceremony was initially slated for July 29.
A letter with reference CD/C.68 vol.1V 241 sent to the Alale-elect, Prince Sunday Ajimoh, by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Adeyemi Adeyemo, said the state government has received several petitions and security reports against the coronation.
It said government has considered the development and decided that in order to sustain the prevailing peace in Akungba-Akoko community and the state in general, the coronation ceremony should be postponed indefinitely.
The statement said relevant security agencies have been informed on the development and urged the Alale-elect to ensure strict compliance with the government’s order.
