The All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Osun West senatorial district has been postponed till Wednesday.
The postponement was the second in the last three days.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has also rescheduled its own primary for same day.
The spokesman for APC in Osun State, Kunle Oyatomi, said the last postponement was due to Monday night’s decision of the party National Working Committee (NWC) to allow one of the two aspirants, Mudashiru Hussain, to participate in the primary.
The party national screening committee led by the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanusi Rikiji, on Sunday disqualified Hussain over his failure to resign as the state Commissioner for Cabinet Matters.
Rikiji said Hussain was disqualified because the party guide lines stipulated that a candidate must not “remain as an employee of the public service 30 days to the election.”
But Hussain claimed he has resigned his appointment and submitted his letter to Governor Rauf Aregbesola on June 6.
Hussain and younger brother to late Isiaka Adeleke, Ademola are participating the primary election.
The PDP Director of Publicity in Osun, Prince Bola Ajao, said the postponement was to allow the party to put its house in order.
A former Minister Youth of Development, Olasunkanmi Akinlabi, and a retired army colonel, Olayiwola Falabi, are eyeing the PDP ticket for the senatorial bye-election.
