Full, thick, healthy hair is generally considered the beauty ideal, but sadly some of us are a bit thinner on top than others. Not to worry, though, as there are ways you can prevent your thin strands from becoming thinner or damaged. All it takes is a few simple changes to your haircare routine.
STOP using your styling tools too often
Whether it’s your curling tongs, straightener or a hairdryer, using intense amounts of heat on your hair on a regular basis can make it become thinner, more brittle and prone to breakage. Use these devices sparingly and always only after applying a heat-protectant spray.

STOP bleaching your hair regularly
We all know that dyes and bleach are not good for our hair. However, not only should you worry about damage from the bleach itself, but removing all the colour from your hair will also take the depth and dimension from it and make it appear thinner. Highlights are the way to go if you want to lighten up.
STOP tying it up tightly
The constant tension from tying hair back can cause the hairline to recede over time, but the immediate downside of a slicked-back ponytail or top knot is that removing the hair tie can yank your hair out from the roots. This, over and above normal daily shedding, means that there will be fewer hairs to work with.

STOP using too much product
This is a no-no on anyone, but especially those with fine strands. Excess product can block hair follicles and prevent new hair from growing in the long term. The more immediate negative side effect is that a buildup of products can make hair look greasy and limp rather than voluminous.
STOP sleeping on cotton
The fibres in our cotton bedding tug on our hair as we toss and turn at night, which can result in it not only becoming frizzy and unkempt, but can also tug the hair out from the root. Satin and silk are much gentler on hair and skin, which can ensure that you lose less hair while you sleep.
