With all the long-lasting makeup products available today, from waterproof mascaras to long-wear lipsticks, sometimes regular remover or cleanser just doesn’t do the trick when it comes to taking them off. No need for endless scrubbing, though. You only need to work smarter, not harder, to remove stubborn products.
Eyelash extensions
After a couple of weeks of wear, after your natural lashes have grown, eyelash extensions can look a bit tatty. Pulling them out is a no-no. Not only is this potentially painful, it can also pull out some of your lashes.
To get them off easily, steam your face under a towel over hot water, allowing the steam to loosen the adhesive. Then gently swipe your lash line with cotton wool dipped in olive oil, and the fake lashes will slide off.

Long-wear lipstick
This type of liquid lipstick is becoming increasingly popular, as it eliminates the need to keep reapplying throughout the day. The downside? It really does last for ages, and has to be forcibly removed to get rid of all traces.
But step away from the makeup wipes – the best product to get rid of long-wear lipstick is petroleum jelly, which you can apply with your fingers, rub into your lips and then gently wipe away with a cloth. Voila!

Waterproof mascara
Since the opposite of water is oil, it’s only natural (and scientific!) that this would be the best way to remove waterproof mascara. The oil actually breaks down the waterproof properties in the mascara, which helps it to come off without any effort and constant rubbing. If you don’t have oils specifically designed for use on your face, olive or almond oil will work just as well.

Glitter nail polish
Many of us love to add a little sparkle to our makeup routine, but it can be a real pain to get rid of the residue. Nowhere does this apply more than with glitter nail polish, which is notoriously tricky to remove.
The most effective way is to soak enough cotton balls for each finger in acetone, place them over the nail and then wrap each finger in tinfoil for five minutes. This should make the glitter polish slide off, leaving your fingers bare and ready for your next mani.
