Super Eagles forward Victor Moses got a 7.5 season rating Saturday an indication that the former Wigan Athletic ace played his heart out to see Chelsea claim the title with panacea.
Twenty four hours after the Blues claimed the title in what has been dubbed impressive run, analysts have shifted focus to assessing the contribution of each player to the sweet story.
Coach Antonio Conte is indeed a very happy man after landing English football’s biggest prize in just his first season in the country, with the likes of Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and N’Golo Kante key to the team’s brilliant season.
In his own case Moses was particularly given a pat on the back for transforming from flaky winger to wing back of great stamina.
The Nigerian international who was turned into a journey man by former coach Jose Mourinho who sent him on a string of loan deals to Liverpool, Stoke City and West Ham respectively returned under Conte better, faster, and stronger all of which added up to hand Chelsea the much deserved victory. He did not only become a regular but made impacts in every match played.
Thibaut Courtois,Marcos Alonso and Gary Cahill all shared equal rating with Moses. Cahill who had a sloppy start led the team in Terry’s absence defending with his heart and scored key goals including a winner at Stoke.
The likes David Luiz, Cesar Azpilicueta and Diego Costa were however rated slightly above the Nigerian with
N’Golo Kante earning a point 9 rating and being described as the heartbeat of Conte’s Chelsea; covered miles, won the ball, passed it well and even scored a goal against Manchester United. Mother luck appeared determined to have Chelsea emerge victorious as every department appears to have fallen in place with the arrival of Conte.
Eden Hazard who had an 8.5 rating was an example of a player who came back to his best after fitness and form problems in 2015/16; full of flicks, feints and explosive bursts and a memorable solo goal against Arsenal.
With one trophy already in the kitty and the determination that has been shown by both the technical crew led by ever ready to celebrate Conte, analysts believe the Blues stand a chance of making it a double when they file out against Arsenal in the FA cup final on May 27.
