Getting hitched soon? As a bride (or even as part of the bridal party) you obviously want to look and feel your best on the big day. But note that there are some treatments you should not be getting just before your wedding.
1. Getting your hair coloured
Now is not the time to experiment with a brand-new hair colour. If you want to make a subtle change to your hair, give yourself plenty of time beforehand. Even if you are redoing highlights, make your colouring appointment at least three weeks before the wedding to avert any hair-raising disasters.
2. Waxing or threading any facial hair
Removing any facial hair is not recommended right before your wedding, as waxing and even threading can cause nasty red bumps, skin irritation or an allergic reaction, and even an infected ingrown hair.
If you have been using any face products containing retinol, or acne treatments such as Roaccutane, you should steer completely clear of removing hair on your face. If you have waxed a couple of days before your big event, soothe irritated skin immediately by applying a hydrocortisone cream to the affected area.

3. Chemical peels or intense facial treatments
This is one of the most important beauty treatments you should skip before your wedding day. Do not – we can’t stress this enough – do NOT book a facial treatment you are unfamiliar with right before your wedding.
A chemical peel or acid exfoliation should be done at least six weeks before your wedding, and only if you are familiar with your skin’s reaction to this treatment. Also steer clear of any new facial products right before your wedding.
4. Botox or fillers
Botox takes at least four or five days to start working, while fillers can feel a bit lumpy and uneven as they settle underneath your skin. And you don’t need any adverse reactions or a drooping brow right before your wedding. Embrace your natural beauty, or discuss these treatments with a credited medical skincare specialist several months before your big day.

5. Manicures and pedicures
While manicures and pedicures are pretty harmless and won’t cause as much stress as a bad hair colour or skin reaction, we recommend that you don’t do your nails on the same morning of your wedding. Rather schedule your appointment a day or two before.
Not looking forward to chipped nails? Try a longer-lasting option such as Gelish or Shellac. If you are doing your own nails, give the layers of polish plenty of time to settle and dry, as you don’t want a smudge of polish on your dress!
