I'll admit, I've been holding onto a pretty old-school idea about what it means to own a rocking chair. For me personally, the term whipped up imagery of a baby being rocked to sleep in something padded and pastel, or an older person sitting on a front porch, judging neighborhood youths from a rickety rocker. And while I'm sure these scenarios are being acted out somewhere in the world, the options we have here have completely exceeded those style expectations.
