The month of May also heralds in the beginning of flower season in London. The Chelsea Flower Show welcomes thousands of visitors each Spring to experience the urban and artisan gardens throughout the city.

The city’s peak season is between March and May as travelers flock to South Beach for the weather, dining and shopping. Every hotel along Collins Avenue offers pool side cocktails and dining, but there are also casual spots off the tourist strip to enjoy the warm weather with a cold drink. Try Bodega for great tacos and margaritas, or The Broken Shaker for a backyard-feel with handcrafted cocktails. See our entire guide here.
New Orleans, LA
As April begins each Spring, the Louisiana streets have been cleared of the Mardi Gras beads and temperatures are starting to reach into the 80’s. It’s a perfect time to visit the Big Easy before the peak of summer heat and humidity. In the month of May the Louisiana city hosts the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, a two week event with great concerts, food festivals and a marketplace of crafts and vintage finds.

The weather is beautiful with temperatures ranging from the mid-60’s in Northern California to the high 80’s in SoCal. Depending on where you begin and end your trip, there are dozens of attractions to add to your itinerary. We did a full run down of a Pacific Coast Highway itinerary here!
Austin, TX
Like Miami, temperatures in Texas climb over 100 degrees during the summer so it’s best to visit in Spring before the outdoors becomes unbearable. Austin has quickly become a destination in Texas for both a great music scene as well as a foodie’s heaven as new bars and restaurants open their doors. If you’re looking for something off the beaten path, a quick drive south of the city sit The Old Goat House cabins. Check in for a night and spend your day on the Guadalupe River with dozens of other visitors who take to the river with inflatable rafts for a lazy day in the sun

A two hour drive to the west will land you in the capital city of Lima that is on the Pacific Coast of South America. The architecture and history in the city are unparalleled, and there are unique dining experiences hidden throughout the city.
Charleston, SC
The picture-perfect South Carolina city has become a blogger favorite of the last few years. The pastel colored homes, sprawling plantations and willow tree lined back roads. Summer months are very hot and humid, but during the Spring the weather is still warm and comfortable for exploring the town. You can’t go wrong with days spent biking down picturesque streets and leisurely afternoons on a beautiful porch with a book in hand; 86 Cannon Inn has a perfectly pastel deck for guests to enjoy during their stay.
Cape Cod, MA
Peak beach weather doesn’t come to New England for a couple of months, but if the Cape, Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard are on your travel bucket list, May is a great time to go. The cost of traveling to and staying on the islands increases significantly as soon as Memorial Day arrives, but if you’re able to make a weekend trip before you’ll have mild weather to explore the nautical towns. Hope between islands on the ferries, or stay put in one of the historical B&B’s for the weekend (like the adorable Brass Lantern Inn).
