A fraudster who impersonated the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari has been arrested in Kano.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has arrested a serial fraudster, Christian Oyovweyho, who allegedly impersonated Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari.
Premium Times reports that the fake Adesina who has been remanded in prison custody after he was arraigned by the EFCC, had allegedly attempting to defraud a Professor of Economics at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Dalhatu Galadanci, of the sum of N300,000.

According to Prof. Galadanci, Oyovweyho, sometime in July 2016, sent him a text message claiming to be Femi Adesina, fraudulently claiming to be speaking on behalf of the President and that the name of the professor had been forwarded for appointment in the Presidency.
Prof. Galadanci stated that the suspect claimed to be searching for a better office for him but he got suspicious when the fraudster asked him to make a payment of N300,000 to facilitate his appointment to either the Nigeria Port Authority, Nigerian Railway Cooperation or Rural Electrification.
It was at that point that the don reported the impersonator to the EFCC and he was traced and arrested.
When the charge was read to Oyovweyho, he pleaded not guilty while the prosecution counsel, Musa Isah, requested a date for trial in view of the plea of the defendant.

The trial judge, Justice Z. B. Abubakar, however, granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 and two sureties in like sum but ordered that he should be remanded in prison custody pending when he could meet his bail conditions.
Justice Abubakar thereafter, adjourned the case to April 11, 2017, for the commencement of trial.
