For 2016, Jobberman focuses on identifying, recognising and celebrating the top employers in the country as rated by employees and professionals.
For the past two years, job placement site Jobberman has reviewed the best places to work in Nigeria to give a comprehensive rating of employee satisfaction and commitment across various employers in the country.
In this year's installment, Jobberman focuses on identifying, recognising and celebrating the top employers in the country as rated by employees and professionals. It also provides interesting insights to job seeking professionals on companies they have plans to work at.
Jobberman says it conducted online surveys with experts across all industries using its 2 million-strong database of entry-level job seekers, in addition to reaching out via email, social media and other channels.
Work parameters highlighted in the survey include: Gender, age, employment status, level of experience, monthly salary, current organisation of employment, reasons for commitment to current employer, job satisfaction, career growth prospects, work-life balance, staff welfare, equal opportunity policy and company culture, amongst others.
Of all those polled, 32.7% were female, 67.3% were male while 71.9% of those polled were between the ages of 26 and 40. About 46.6% had mid-level experience, 32.9% had entry level experience and 20.5% had senior level experience.
Majority of those polled (51%) earn under N100,000 (about $200), 23% earn between N100,000 - N150,000 ($200 - $300), 15.9% earn between N150,000 - N300,000 ($300 - $600), 6% earn between N300,000 - N600,000 ($600 - $1000) and 4.1% earn over N500,000 ($1000).
Of the 100 companies on the list, 72 are run by Nigerian CEOs while 28 are run by expatriate CEOs. Highlighting the rise of job mobility in the country, 51% of respondents didn't see themselves remaining at their place of employment for the next two years, 15% said they would, and 33.(% were unsure.
In total, 60 multinational companies made the list of best companies to work for in Nigeria. Of the top ten companies on the list, 8 are also multinationals. 19 of those 60 multinationals on the list are privately run while 36 are publicly listed.
The list also shows that local companies are on the rise with 42 of the best 100 listed starting in Nigeria and cutting across financial services, ICT, media, power, oil and gas, aviation, outsourcing and professional services.
The government also featured on the list with 13 of the best 100 being government-run. They fall into the oil and gas, financial services, logistics, and aviation sectors.
in terms of impact on the Nigerian economy, 24 publicly traded companies on the best 100 list represent about 80% of the market capitalisation of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), the Jobberman report said.
As for sectors maintaining the goodies for employees, oil and gas remains the most attractive with the banking sector falling off (nine banks dropped off the list between the last edition and the newest one).
