Coach of the Super Eagles, Gernot Rohr has insisted that John Mikel Obi and Odion Ighalo moves to China are not step downs.
Captain of the Super Eagles, Mikel and his compatriot Ighalo all moved to the Chinese Super League, the former joining Tianjin TEDA from Chelsea while the latter signed for Changchun Yatai.
While many believe they made the moves to get bigger money, Super Eagles coach Rohr insists that the two players are going to be playing competitive football in China.
“Our players who didn’t play in their clubs will now play football in China,” the Super Eagles coach said in an interview with Toyin Ibitoye.
