The Police in Ile-Ife, Osun on Friday arraigned 22-year-old Dare Akinyemi charged with breaking into a house to steal rubber pipes worth N50, 000.
Akinyemi, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of housebreaking and stealing at an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court.
Police Prosecutor Emmanuel Abdullahi told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 16 at about 9.30 a.m. at Nathan area of Ita-Osa, Ile-Ife.
He alleged that the accused conspired with others now at large to break into the house of the complainant, Mukaila Adeniyi and made away with rubber pipes valued at N50, 000.
The offences, according to Insp. Abdullahi, contravene Sections 390 (9), 412 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Counsel to the accused, Mr Samson Akinbayowa, applied for the bail of the accused and promised that he would not jump bail.
In her ruling, Magistrate Dorcas Ajiboye granted the accused bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
Ajiboye added that the surety must swear to an affidavit of means as well as produce three years’ tax clearance.
She adjourned the case to March 10 for hearing.
