The magistrate, Mr M.K Fadeyi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Two men, Wasiu Gbadegesin and Olayemi Oladokun, who allegedly stole a motorcycle valued at N250,000, were on Friday charged before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Lagos.
Gbadegesin, 21, a commercial driver and Oladokun, 33, a carpenter, both of No. 14, and No, 69, Olateju St., Mushin, Lagos, are facing a two-count -charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Rita Momoh, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Feb. 11 at 3:00 a.m., at Akinyemi Street, Mushin.
She said the accused conspired and stole the motorcycle belonging to Mr Jelili Ramon.
“The accused stole the complainant’s Bajaj motorcycle which was parked at his workshop."
“The complainant got to his workshop and discovered that his motorcycle had been stolen."
“He reported the matter to the police and four days after, the accused were arrested with the motorcycle,” he said.
The offences contravened Sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 stipulates a three-year-jail term if the offender is found guilty.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The magistrate, Mr M.K Fadeyi, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
Fadeyi then adjourned the case to March 13 for mention.
