Niyi is still recovering in the hospital with Tara by his side, maltreating her despite his condition. He meets Wole, and the drama begins right there.
NIYI
Tara didn’t respond to Wole’s question. She just stayed in his arms for as long as she could. She had never felt safer anywhere else for as long as she could remember. Wole didn’t press, he only started patting her back.
“It’s going to be alright, couz. It’s going to be all right”
Tara didn’t know for how long she was in his arms neither did she care but she knew she couldn’t stay there forever. She finally let him go, she looked up into his eyes and gave a weary smile.
“I missed you” She said softly
“I know” He gave a kiss on the forehead as he said so, then taking her hand, he led her to nearby seats.
“What is going on? How is he?” He asked once they settled.
“He is fine, the doctor say he would be okay”
“That is good news. What exactly happened? Your mum couldn’t give me much details and she is worried sick herself”
Tara sighed, trust her mum to be the ultimate drama queen.

“I don’t really know. Think he was robbed, his friend found him in his car badly beaten up. No real idea on what happened and he hasn’t said much about it”. Tara didn’t know when another tear rolled down her face again till Wole reached and wiped it away.
“It is all going to be okay. The main thing is that he is alright and alive. You have nothing to be worried about anymore” But he could see in her eyes that there was still a lot that she was holding back but he knew not to press further.
“Excuse me, Ma. Your husband wants to see you” They both had not noticed the nurse who had walked up to them.
“Husband?” Wole stared at her puzzled.
“Calm down, we are not yet married” Tara laughed at him.
“I almost had a heart attack that you got married without telling me or even inviting me to the wedding.”
“You know I can never do that to you. Come let’s go see what Niyi wants” She said half dragging him till he was back to his full height.
She held onto his arm as they walked through the corridor to Niyi’s room. Even Tara couldn’t deny the side glances thrown their way by people they walked by. She knew just how handsome her cousin was and how charming he could get once he opened his mouth. If only.. if only..
“Where the fuck did you go to?!” Niyi barked at her as soon as she opened the door and stepped into the room.
The frown on his face lightened up a little as he saw Wole walk in behind her then it was replaced with a look of questioning amidst the awkward silence.
“I am sorry. I had to go meet up my cousin at the reception. Niyi, this is my cousin, Wole the one I always spoke about. He just got back into the country” Tara broke the ice.

“Oh the basketballer. Chairman, how far na? How was your flight?” Niyi’s face broke into a huge grin.
“It was okay. I am sorry about all these, how are you feeling?”
Wole stepped forward with an outstretched hand. Tara could swear that the smile on his face was a forced one. She had known him all her life to know enough when he was forcing something or didn’t like a person.
The second thought scared her, what if Wole didn’t really like Niyi? What would happened? She couldn’t stand the thought of the closest person in her life and her husband not getting along.
“She didn’t say you were coming” Niyi’s voice knocked her out of her sub consciousness.
“Oh no one knew. I wanted it to be a surprise” Wole answered for her as she watched them shake hands.
“What happened to you?” Wole asked as he sat down on the chair right next to the bed.
“Menn, to be honest I don’t know. Only thing I remember was opening my car door and I woke up here”. Niyi managed to sit up a little as he spoke.
“We have been hearing various kidnapping reports back in America, I never thought they were this serious. And the government doesn’t seem ready to do anything about it”. Wole shook his head.
“Government? All we have is an absentee president” Niyi followed up.
“Before you guys start going all political talks, what do you need?” Tara managed to smile at Niyi even though she was sure Wole could see her smile was very much as fake as his.
“Yes, I wanted a cup of coffee” Niyi said.
“Please get me one too, I could sure use it” Wole called after her as she turned around.
“Okay” The smile she gave Wole was as genuine as it gets but as soon as she stepped out of the room, her face was covered in worry.

She couldn’t tell what was going on or was going to happen. She just had to be hopeful, she closed her eyes and said a little prayer before heading to get coffee.
JOE
“Oga, I don tell you. Don’t ever carry Arsenal on your betting slips ever again. There is no such thing as club loyalty when it comes to gambling”. Joe hissed as he spoke to Olisa his colleague.
“I know na but you sef look am, Bayern are not in form too but at all at all. Arsenal should have won or drawn that match” Olisa grumbled.
“Olisa see, just leave my office. Let me work. We can talk about your useless club later” Joe groaned.
“Relax, we aren’t the only ones that lost last week na. Barca wey dem flog four zero nko? At least we even score one”.
“Scored one and conceded five. Barca conceded four. What’s the difference? Olise go work abeg, I dey get headache”.
“Which yeye headache? Na since you carry that Ngozi babe go fuck for hotel you don dey come office with headache. E dey your body” Olisa said as he walked out of the office.
Joe stared at him till he left only because there was a bit of truth in the statement.
Ever since he had taken Ngozi to the hotel and had run into Steph, nothing had been the same. What the fuck was wrong with him? He had fucked Steph, yes he had fucked her.

He kept telling himself but what was still the problem? Perhaps everything he had said to her in the car on the way back from the hospital was the truth afterall. He knew it had hurt her, hurt her so much that she had not talked to him before she left this morning.
What was he doing? Never let emotions dictate your life was Aisha’s favorite saying and he has always agreed with her, till now.
Now he was at a crossroad and now he knew he couldn’t help himself. The strings of his dilemma was in the hands of another.
