Some women technological entrepreneurs on Tuesday urged mothers to learn the secret of managing an organised home, while running a successful business online.
The online entrepreneurs gave the advice at the ongoing Social Media Week (SMW) 2017 holding in Lagos from Feb. 27 to March 3.
They spoke on the topic: “Becoming a Kick-Ass Tech Mum”.
Mrs. Mofolusode Sonaike, who is the Chief Executive Officer, Branded.ng said that technology had made life so easy and urged mothers while sitting at home to use the social media platform to sell their talents and aspirations.
“The internet is not a menace; it serves as a community for businesses to thrive.
“It can be used in doing a lot of things like learning, capacity building, meeting new people and this can be possible if one avails herself online.
“For one to get people online, one needs to be real and messages sent should be clear,” she said.
Sonaike said that people were seeking to connect with others with real life struggles and urged mothers to push their lives’ efforts online to get attention and patronage.
Mrs. Tope Mark-Odigie, a professional makeup artist urged all mothers to balance, set priorities and sacrifice the things needed to be sacrificed in the family.
“A woman goes through these things in life, balance, priority and sacrifice and because she is mother, does not mean she should not have a life of her own.
“Social media is like a community for business people to thrive and so mothers need to tap into it,” she said.
Mark-Odigie said that how a woman overcame all her struggles represent her message and she could push that to touch the situations confronting some women through her platform.
She said that people have a lot of time on their hands, especially women, therefore they needed to use the time effectively to avoid distraction, at the same time add value to their lives.
Mrs. Kifayah Omotosho, the Executive Director, the Legit Way Out, advised women to pass messages that were original to them online.
“People need to connect to reality and so messages passed out should be their own,’’ she said.
She said that it took a lot of failures for one to make a success and urged women not to be downcast when they see people who seem to be successful online.
Omotosho said that to build home businesses, one needed to be sociable; while their adverts should not be frequent with the real and fun messages.
