Cheating Spouse: Teacher urges court to divorce 10-year marriage for husband’s insincerity

Divorce

The petitioner alleged that her husband pretended that he was no more in a relationship with his first wife, but she later found out the truth.

A 36-year-old teacher, Mrs Omotola Moshood, has dragged her husband of 10 years to an Ikorodu Customary Court for deceiving her into the marriage.

She said that her husband lied to her about his marital  status before the marriage.

The petitioner, who resides at Gbolahan Bello St., Sawmill Road in Ikorodu, also alleged that her husband was also irresponsible.

She alleged that her husband pretended that he was no more in a relationship with his first wife, but she later found out the truth.

“My husband told me that his first wife was always having still births and so he decided to marry another wife.

“My husband lured me to marrying him; he spoke with sweet mouth, saying that he had left his first wife until I heard that she has four children for my husband.

“When the other woman also discovered that I am married to her husband, she usually cursed me and insulted me on phone.

“I left my husband since six months ago because her curses have affected me spiritually and I fell ill.

“I want this marriage dissolved and I urge this court to grant me the custody of my son because he took him from me and I don’t know his where about,’’ she said.

Mr Rasak Moshood, 48, the estranged husband, did not deny his wife’s claims and also urged the court to separate them.

“I didn’t tell her the truth because I liked her and I want her to marry me, now she wants to leave me because she is dating her church shepherd,’’ he alleged.

Moshood pleaded with the court to separate them.

The Court President, Mrs Omolara Abiola, scolded the couple and ordered them to bring each family members at the next adjourned date.

She adjourned the case till April 3 for possible reconciliation.
