Sunday 15 October 2017 is Garden Day, and what better way to celebrate than by rounding up your family and making flower crowns. Whether you have a tiny potted garden or a large rambling one, anything and everything is worth celebrating on Garden Day!
Watch Suzelle DIY’s video on how to make your own flower crown just in time for #GardenDay.
Garden Day was started by a group of enthusiastic local gardeners who wanted to start a movement to unite South Africans by creating a day where everyone can enjoy and celebrate their gardens together.
Recent research shows that people spend up to 20% more time working in their gardens than actually enjoying them. Here are some ideas to inspire you on the 15th to make the most of your outdoor space, whether it’s a large garden or a little patio:
1. Have a plant club (instead of a book club), where friends get together to do a plant swap.
2. Visit your nearest nursery or garden centre and get inspired.
3. Use fresh flowers and greenery from your garden to make flower crowns for friends and family.
4. Have a garden scavenger hunt.
5. Host a garden party: Make sure you include edible flowers on top of your cupcakes.
